Lebanon battlefield erupts as Hezbollah ambushes devastate Israel, 6 Merkava tanks destroyed and elite Radwan forces enter combat
Hezbollah launches massive attacks with rockets and ballistic missiles on various targets inside Israel, alongside deadly ambushes in Lebanon

The conflict between Hezbollah and Israel is entering a new and particularly dangerous phase, alongside the confrontation of the Jewish state and the United States with Iran.
According to announcements by the organization, during recent clashes with units of the Israeli army (IDF), significant successes were recorded, including the destruction of several Merkava IV tanks, one of the most advanced and heavily armored tanks in the Israeli military.
Although Israeli authorities have imposed strict censorship regarding possible losses on the battlefield, Hezbollah released videos confirming several of its claims.
This material records attacks and destruction of various types of Israeli armored vehicles.
This image stands in stark contrast to the narrative of military superiority systematically projected by Israel and its Western allies.

The expansion of the war after the attack against Iran

The new escalation appears to have begun after the large scale military operation launched by Israel and the United States against Iran on 28 February 2026.
The following day, Hezbollah announced that it had opened a second front against Israel.
A few days later, in early March, videos circulated that reportedly show attacks against Israeli tanks.
These operations are taking place while the organization simultaneously launches massive attacks with rockets and ballistic missiles on various targets inside Israel.

The intensity of the attacks has forced Israeli authorities to proceed with extensive evacuations of areas.
Many analysts estimate that Hezbollah’s operations appear to be closely coordinated with the ballistic attacks carried out by Iran.
If this is fully confirmed, it would constitute one of the most coordinated regional military pressures that Israel has faced in recent decades.

Iran – Hezbollah coordination

Many military analysts estimate that Hezbollah’s attacks are closely coordinated with the ballistic attacks carried out by Iran.
Iran has for decades had Hezbollah as one of its most important allies in the Middle East and has invested significant resources in training and equipping the organization.
This cooperation has led to the creation of a network of military forces that operate as a regional deterrent against Israel.

The emergence of the formidable Radwan

The recent problems of Israeli operations coincide with reports that Hezbollah has deployed the elite Radwan forces for counterattacks against IDF units in southern Lebanon.
These units are considered among the most highly trained of the organization.
Until recently, they had not been directly involved in major clashes with Israeli forces, which had created speculation that they were being kept as a strategic reserve.
The Radwan gained significant operational experience during the war in Syria, where for years they participated in operations alongside the government of Damascus.
This experience is considered to have significantly improved their operational effectiveness, particularly in complex and asymmetric battles.

Deadly ambushes by Hezbollah, 6 Merkava reduced to ashes

According to announcements by Hezbollah, its units are extensively using ambush tactics against Israeli armored vehicles.
This tactic includes coordinated attacks from multiple points with anti tank weapons and guided missiles, exploiting the difficult terrain of southern Lebanon.
On 19 March, the organization announced that within a period of just one and a half hours, from 12:05 a.m. to 1:30 a.m., it managed to disable or destroy six Merkava IV tanks in successive clashes.
If these claims are confirmed, it would constitute one of the largest blows suffered by Israeli armored forces in such a short period of time.
This specific tank is considered the flagship of Israeli armored forces and is one of the most advanced battle tanks in the world.
The destruction of multiple such vehicles in a short period raises serious questions regarding the effectiveness of Israeli military strategy, as well as Hezbollah’s ability to confront technologically superior opponents.

Pressure for a new front in Syria

Alongside military developments, Israel and the United States are reportedly exerting pressure on Syria to open a second front against Hezbollah and a third overall in the broader war.
According to information, a military concentration of Islamist militias supported by Syria has taken place near the border with Lebanon.
The aim of this move is reportedly to relieve Israeli forces already under intense pressure from Hezbollah operations.
The possibility of opening another front carries serious risks of further regional destabilization, as it could turn the conflict into a broader war involving many countries of the Middle East.

Strict censorship by Israel

Beyond military operations on the ground, the conflict is also evolving at the level of information.
Israel is applying strict censorship regarding the coverage of military losses, while Hezbollah attempts to project an image of military success through video releases and announcements.
This confrontation reflects the deeper battle for control of the narrative, on one side Israel seeks to preserve the image of military superiority and deterrence, on the other Hezbollah aims to show that it can strike even the most advanced weapons systems of its opponent.
